Retro Look - Still Big Sunglasses

I love the look of the big retro sunglasses. Lucky for me the designers are still showing them. You know girls they are easy to find at your local Wally World, or Tah-Jay. Cents on the dollar, get them in Classic Black, you can't go wrong. As you know Rachel Zoe is a fan of the big sunglass too.

BCBG Leather-Sleeved Draped Jacket $248.00. I love the jacket, and i love love the sunglasses.

Are you In? Project Runway Season 6 - Lifetime

Another guilty pleasure? Yes, I'm In!! Project Runway Season 6 on Lifetime. If you haven't caught it yet, totally fun. Love that lifetime airs it twice in one evening, and then again during the week. Love it, because it gives me and my College age daughter something great to talk about. Not retro, but fun. Catch if you can.

Planting a Chair as a Garden -- Garden Chair

I ran across this over on Apartment Therapy and fell in love. How cute and retro is this garden chair. Planted with an all year plant it is darling. This could easily sit in a front yard as a back yard.

Vintage Style Pottery Barn

When visiting my daughter at work the other day, I swung by my local Pottery Barn for some decorating inspiration. Let's face it, I am a Pottery Barn junkie. I have loved them since I moved into my house over 15 years ago. Kind of found them by accident, as we didn't have a store here at that time, and the previous owner was getting the catalogs. Since then we have a store and I am not totally relegated to the catalogs. Let's face it the catalogs are marvelous. Picked up the latest and it is all about Vintage Style!! My kind of great style. They have some great wine decorating ideas. Perfect for nesting this fall and having parties at home. They even have a party planning space on the website to help you throw the perfect party, check it out. Above is one of my favorite rooms from the Pottery Barn catalog.

Reading - James Patterson - The Quickie

What are you reading? I like to try and read a book a month. I don't belong to any kind of a book club. I just enjoy reading, after all there is only so much TV anyone can watch. So, I just finished Julie & Julia, and when at the grocery store, they had The Quickie on sale, $4.79 for a paperback, the new kind of tall kind that is supposed to be easier to read. Can't wait. I wanted to read this in hardback, but never got to it, had it on hold at the Library, and never got to it. So, I am so excited to start reading. What are you reading?

Retro Jeans - Boyfriend Jeans - 1950's

I know I say this all the time. Everything old is new again!! Take the Weekend Jean, or Boyfriend Jean. Loose jeans rolled up. The 1953 girls below didn't know it but they were in style for 2009. Okay, I know we wear a much lower rise than they did, but the result is similar a definite blast to the past. Oh, and I could go on and on about a classic white shirt, and scarves. You do know how popular scarves are, not the short tied ones they have on but the longer draped around your neck ones. So, if you are in the market for some Weekend Jeans, just hop on over to Old Navy, theirs are $19.00. Yes, $19.00. Plus sizes online only, but readily available. No excuses ladies, go retro and in style at the same tme.

Picture below is from, 1953 Girls at Camp Arrow Head, http://www.camparrowhead.com/.

Dancing Ghost Ring - Halloween Crafts

I know it is back to school, but I am thinking Halloween. My personal favorite is the Dancing Ghost Ring. Maybe this weekend I will head over to my favorite Hobby Lobby and see their Halloween Decorations, and get some Ideas. I just love Halloween and this year it is on a Saturday. Our neighborhood goes Halloween Crazy.

These ghosts are available 3 for $69.00 at Grandin Road. http://www.grandinroad.com
Great deal.

Also from Grandin Road. These are in their Sale Department for $12.00. That is a bargain.

Also Grandin Road, by Martha Stewart, these fiberboard chandeliers. Elegantly glittered.

Maybe another craft project? These might be fun done with paper bags. These metal luminarias are from Grandin Road.

I love Halloween, I am really enjoying thinking about how to decorate. You?

Retro Parson's Desk - Table

I love this room from Metropolitan Home. I love the dark wall behind the bed. I love the retro style Parson's Desk, Table at the end of the bed. This is an easy in expensive purchase. Walmart has Parson's Desks for less than $75.00 in great colors. A Parson's desk/table is also a great landing strip at a front door for bills, keys, etc. So if you need an inexpensive update in your home, here it is new and retro at the same time.

Great Swimming Pool Design

I love swimming pools. I'm afraid, the one at our house isn't as majestic as these. But, a girl can dream. Dream along with me.

Love that last one with the grass and stone cut through, when I mow I would probably mow grass into the pool.

Mary Tyler Moore Show

I loved the Mary Tyler Moore Show. When my daughter was little we used to watch it together. In the opening credits she tosses meat into her grocery cart. When we would go to the store my daughter would always say toss the meat. It still makes me laugh to this day. Well, here is a great pic of her stage layout, as well as an outside shot of the house. Enjoy.

Route 66 - Albuquerque

Nothing better than living on Route 66 in New Mexico. Great food, great sites, great art. With the current economy, staycations or statecations are very popular. So if you are inclined, you can still get your kicks on Route 66, very reasonably.
